Alkakarb

Alkakarb^®, the first animal feed grade sodium bicarbonate in India, marks Tata Chemicals’ foray into the value-added bicarbonate business.

Marketed as Alkakarb^®, it is an established brand of Tata Chemicals Europe (formerly Brunner Mond) in the animal nutrition sector. TCL markets the brand across all its business geographies.

Alkakarb^® is used in poultry and ruminant diets and for general animal feed use. It helps:

	Provides high purity source of chloride-free sodium to the animals
	Improves growth rate
	Alleviates of heat stress
	Prevents problems caused by poor litter quality
	Increases eggshell strength thereby minimising breakages

Alkakarb^® contains 27 per cent sodium by weight and is used to maintain the natural pH in the saliva of ruminants, such as dairy cattle, enabling micro-organisms to survive in the cattle gut and aiding digestion.
