The Asian Age — October 30, 2001

Tata Chemicals has reported an increase of 30 per cent in net profit at Rs 56.6 crore for the six-month period ended September 30, 2001, as compared to Rs 43.59 crore during the same period last fiscal. The company has seen a drop in its sales by 13 per cent to Rs 679.48 crore during the first half of the current year from Rs 784.62 crore during the same period last year, on account of reduced production due to fire in the company’s chemical plant at Mithapur in March 2001.
