Tata Chemicals said on Monday its plant at Mithapur in western
Gujarat had resumed production after being closed following
a fire three weeks ago. "Mithapur is back in operation
and soda ash production has been resumed. Normalcy in operation
will be restored in a phased manner," a statement quoted
Managing Director Prasad Menon as saying. The plant resumed
production on Saturday.
Menon had said earlier the shutdown would cause a revenue
loss of Rs 20-30 crore in March. The fire had damaged the
company's power plant, but the assets were insured and the
company also said it was insured against loss of profit.
