Tata Chemicals doubles net profit

Tata Chemicals Ltd has more than doubled its net profit at Rs 251.81 crore for the third quarter ended December 2000 as against Rs 111.82 reported in the corresponding period the previous year.

Net sales and operating income in the third quarter stood at Rs 377.70 crore compared to Rs 379.44 crore in the same period last year, a company release said. Reduction in retention price of urea by Rs 463 per tonne from April has resulted in fall in revenue and profit of Rs 8.76 crore and Rs 30.84 crore for the quarter and the nine months ended December, respectively.
