Tata Chemicals wins CNBC-TV18 CFO
award for 'Best Deal in the M&A' category
17 April 2009
Tata Chemicals (TCL), executive director and
CFO, PK Ghose, received the prestigious CNBC-TV18 CFO Awards,
Indias most distinguished awards for excellence in the
financial field. The awards were given out at a glittering
ceremony held recently at the NSE auditorium, Bandra Kurla
Complex, Mumbai.
The awards are designed to acknowledge the changing role
of the CFOs ranging from cross border M&A to business
diversification from business expansion by venturing into
newer markets to transforming organisations.
This recognition vindicates the fact that the TCL way
of managing a cross border M&A has evolved robustly based
on our own past experiences in the M&A space. It is heartening
to see that in this tough economic scenario that has challenged
the conventional rules of the game, Indian CFOs have strategically
contributed significantly to revolutionise the financial community
globally and are guiding their organisations through this
tough phase, said Mr Ghose.
The winners of these defining awards were selected through
a robust and comprehensive judging process, based on a combination
of criteria.
The first stage involved shortlisting of India's best businesses
using quantitative techniques. The second stage consisted
of shortlisting of companies that were then presented to the
jury. These nominees were then evaluated by an esteemed jury
panel.
The jury panel was headed by AK Purwar, ex-chairman SBI and
chairman of India Venture Advisors as the chairman of the
jury. The jury consisted of TV Mohandas Pai, global HR head
Infosys; Keki Mistry, MD HDFC; Anil Singhvi,
vice chairman, RNRL; Sumant Sinha, COO, Suzlon; Manisha Girotra,
MD and chairperson, UBS; and Bharat Doshi, executive director
and group CFO, Mahindra & Mahindra.
