Tata Chemicals employees across the globe embark on a wellness journey
June 23, 2010

Tata Chemicals (TCL) has always maintained that the wellbeing of its employees and their families is of utmost importance to the organisation. In keeping with this philosophy, and in line with our credo ‘human touch of chemistry’, TCL India, GCIP USA, Brunner Mond UK and Magadi Soda Company Kenya embarked on a wellness journey in 2009.

While TCL India launched ‘Healthy, Wealthy and Wise’ as a part of its ‘Year of People’ initiative in November 2009, Wellness Champions from TCL’s global family initiated interesting wellness programmes at their respective locations. Cross-functional teams of Wellness Champions, formed across our India and global operations, have been organising a slew of interesting wellness interventions, which include awareness-building campaigns, contests, competitions and other fun events. From 'Lunch and Learn' at GCIP, to health camps and sporting events in Magadi, workshops and daily wellness tips being sent as e-mailers titled ‘An apple a day’ in TCL India, the initiatives are diverse and have only just begun!

These wellness initiatives are a reinforcement of TCL’s commitment to encouraging and promoting activities and programmes that contribute to our employee’s health and wellbeing in all dimensions. Through these wellness programmes, the organisation has embarked on a journey through which it will provide employees with the necessary resources, information and guidance to promote and encourage holistic wellbeing in all the five dimensions of wellness — physical, financial, emotional, intellectual and spiritual.

While 2009 kick-started TCL’s employee wellness journey, 2010 will see it becoming much more rigorous, interesting and meaningful.
