TCL shines at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit 2003

Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit 2003, a three-day global business meet was held in Ahmedabad from September 28 to 30, 2003.

The international mega-convention brought together national and global companies providing them an exclusive platform for one-to-one interaction, facilitating technology transfer, forming of joint ventures and inking trade agreements.

The Summit was spread across a range of activities with sessions on conferences, symposia, seminars and exhibitions, besides the essential one-to-one meetings. The focus of the international summit was to highlight the investment opportunities available in Gujarat in the sectors of gas and petroleum, tourism, minerals and mining, port and road infrastructure, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals and agro and food processing including chemicals.

Mr. LK Advani, Dy. Prime Minister of India, inaugurated the summit. The list of high-profile attendees included Mr. Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Arun Shourie, Union Minister for Disinvestment, Communication and Information Technology, Mr. Ram Naik, Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries Limited, 123 foreign participants — including, US Senator Larry Pressler, Chief of Indo-UK Chamber Michael Clarke and representatives from British Gas, Shell, P&O Ports, Niko and STEAG, NRIs and close to 700 Indian business delegates.

An industrial exhibition and a business conference were organised as a part of this summit. The focus of the industrial exhibition was to showcase the capabilities of the Gujarat-based industrial units. The business conference was conducted with the aim of disseminating information on investor friendly government policies, investment opportunities in various sectors and details of infrastructure and support available.

Tata Chemicals Limited was among the distinguished invitees for the event that included other corporate organisations based in the state. Industrial majors like ONGC, Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, Reliance, Essar, Shell, Amul, British Gas, GAIL, Sanghi Cement and Nirma were among the 33 other corporate organisations, which took part in the event.

Jignesh Shah and Satish Trivedi took charge of the TCL stall at the Industrial Exhibition. An excellent display was put on view for the attendees visiting the stall, with panels giving information on the corporate overview; vision, mission, values; core business; social development; and the community and environmental initiatives taken up by the company. VV Davda, VK Patel, Kamal Garg, Anil Kumar Sinha and Dhananjay Singh represented TCL at the Business Conference

Mr. Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat and Dr. Vallabhbhai Katharia, Union Minister for Human Resource Development were among the eminent visitors to visit the TCL stall. They evinced keen interest in the company's activities and the community development initiatives in particular.
