Grooming new leaders
Tata Chemicals believes in grooming business leaders
for the present and the future. This belief forms the basic
philosophy behind the company's induction programme. The programme
follows a bottom-top approach that enables new entrants to
our company to be trained in a structured manner, giving them
in-depth insights to the organisation.
Employees are hired and groomed in batches, which leads to
a creation of pool of management talent having the same direction,
and providing complementarities with similar skills, attitudes,
personalities and values. We believe that this pool will be
the answer to any leadership challenge across the organization.
At TCL, we recruit candidates from various disciplines and
take them into the system in functions like sales and marketing,
finance, HR, operations/SCM, corporate communication, agri-business,
etc. This is a dedicated process of selecting, training, grooming
and inducting fresh post-graduates that is designed to meet
our present and future needs.
The management trainee induction programme at TCL is called
FIRST Focused Innovative Result-oriented Structured
Training. The objective of the programme is to facilitate
a structured and detailed induction of all the businesses
and functions at TCL, which helps familiarise trainees with
the companys systems, products, processes and people.
With each passing year, we make innovative changes to FIRST
based on experience and feedback.
A unique feature of the FIRST programme is that it provides
trainees with challenging cross-functional projects facilitating
on the job training and gearing them towards becoming
successful managers in the future. It facilitates a social
and cultural transition from the world of academics to the
corporate world.
